KIRKWOOD, MO (KPLR) - Kirkwood Walmart manager Mari Mathis doesn't stop much.  "Right here we have a 4K 50-inch TV," she said, during a tour of the store Monday evening.  "It's by LG.  Retails for $998 regularly, but for Black Friday we'll have it on sale for $698."

While Black Friday may still be a few days away, retailers like Walmart have been preparing for it for weeks.

Mathis said, "Well we start our plans for Black Friday as many as two or three months ahead of time.  So it is a constant effort we go through to get ready for Black Friday."

She suggested another item they expect to be popular this holiday season.

"Of course we have Star Wars," she said, "which is definitely a hot item this year.  We have the light saber which is going to be $5 on Black Friday."

Shoppers Monday evening were divided on whether they'll be back for Black Friday.

One woman said, "It's just a fun atmosphere and everybody's excited for Christmas; starts the season off.

A man leaning on a shopping cart said, "It depends on the lines and stuff, I guess."

The Mathis tour continued.

"Also we have fitness wearable’s, another really hot category for us right now," she said.  "The Fitbit Flex is going to be $59 on Black Friday, starting at 6 p.m. Thursday.  It's normally $99."

Walmart's Black Friday sales actually start Thursday, Thanksgiving Day at 6 pm.  Also, for the first time ever, Walmart will be offering 95% of the Black Friday items for sale on their website, walmart.com, beginning at 12:01 a.m. Thursday.

"This is our Super Bowl," said Mathis.
