Variety donates over 225 bikes to area children

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO (KPLR) - On Saturday more than 225 kids stopped by Parkway Central High School to pick up an early Christmas gift. Variety the Children's Charity hosted their 20th annual bikes for kid’s event and kids like Joseph Lawrence are excited to get a new set of wheels.

`I’ve been waiting a long time' said Lawrence.

Honorary chair Lucia Rodriguez says having the bikes is also a good way to the kids out to socialize and have fun.

"They`re getting physical therapy along with riding along side with brother sister friends in the neighborhood."

The Rams were also on hand to help give out helmets and safety locks.

150 volunteers donated their time and are more than happy to do it again.  More than 3,400 bikes have been handed out over the last 4 years.
