Search is on for man swept away by floodwaters

REYNOLDS COUNTY, MO (KPLR) – Authorities in Reynolds County Missouri are searching for 49-year-old John Gutches who left for work at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, when he encountered flood waters that swept him away.

According to the Reynolds County Sheriff Tom Volner, Gutches was heading to work and somehow his truck ended up in the Black River near Highway J and 49.  The truck was found but Gutches was not inside.

A search crew of 35 EMS workers, volunteers and police searched by boat, foot and air all day, the search was called off as night had fallen.

Family member say the wont give up.

The sheriff also says another man in his 40`s was recovered in the southern part of the county Wednesday afternoon.  He was actually heading home from work when he crossed a small bridge and got washed away near where County Roads H and HH connect.   His name has not been released pending family notification.

Search teams are expected to resume their search for John Gutches at 7:30 tomorrow morning at Black River Baptist Church.
