Kansas City throws a party to celebrate Royals’ championship

KANSAS CITY, MO (KPLR) - It's been a day long party in Kansas City for the world champion royals.

Many schools and offices closed down today let fans bask in the team's win.

There were bands, and lines of cars for several miles that included dancing, Clydesdales and a parade of the team’s players.

Kansas City erupted into a sea of blue, as Royal’s fans poured into downtown Kansas City the home of the 2015 World Series champions.

Most fans waited hours for the arrival of the home town heroes the Kansas City Royals.

This is the team's first World Series trophy in 30 years and the players who won it wound through crowded streets.

In anticipation of today's celebration, several area school districts called off classes for the day.
