ST. LOUIS (KPLR) – Rest easy, St. Louisans; just because the tap water may have a peculiar taste or odor, it’s still perfectly safe to drink, the City of St. Louis Water Division said Monday.

According to St. Louis Water Commissioner Curtis Skouby, changes in the weather—often coinciding with the fall or winter seasons—can affect source water, leading to strange flavors or smells.

Even though the water still passes all state and federal standards for consumption, Skouby said the water division has adjusted its treatment process to flush the hydrants.
