Arrest made after man shoots at police during overnight standoff

ST. CHARLES, MO (KPLR)- St. Charles Police have made an arrest after an overnight standoff where shots were fired at officers. It happened at a home on Pike Street, not far from First Capitol Drive. A 47-year-old man got into a fight with his girlfriend and assaulted her. She went to the hospital where police were called.

Officers arrived at the home, and found the man barricaded inside. He fired at least one shot at officers as they approached the home. No one was hit. They backed off and called in the SWAT.

After a two hour standoff, tear gas was fired into the home. The man fired another shot at police. Again, no one was wounded.

Eventually, the tear gas forced the man to come out of the home where he was arrested.

The manโ€™s girlfriend was not seriously injured.
