LADUE, MO (KPLR) – Monday a former Ladue Horton Watkins high school student was found dead in his dorm room at Truman State University student . Roommates of 18-year-old William Batterson told investigators they heard him snoring when they left the room. A half hour later they found him unresponsive in his dorm room.

He was pronounced dead at Northeast Regional Medical Center.

A teacher at Horton Watkins High School remembers Batterson well.

“Billy was so well liked by all the students. He always had a smile on his face when he was walking through the halls. He could brighten the room with his smile.  I wouldn’t say quiet, but a nice kid just could brighten you day with his smile. He was very well liked and a genuinely nice kid.”

An autopsy on Batterson’s body was planned for today in Columbia.  But police do not expect foul play and say alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
