ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO (KPLR) - St. Louis family is putting in a simple request all across the county for a 5-year-old battling a brain tumor.

5-year-old Ray Lathon was diagnosed in June with a brain tumor. At the time the family was told the condition was incurable and Ray was given only six months to a year to live.  But his grandmother says she has a strong belief in prayer and asking others to do the same

Ray is known for helping others like serving food to the homeless every month in St. Louis. He spends time visiting nursing homes putting smiles on the faces of many. Ray enjoys playing with batman and he’s a true sports fan.

But most of all, the young boy has a heart of gold and continues to keep the faith.

Ray loves his family and he is the fifth child of six boys and his favorite scripture is the Lord’s Prayer. At the age of three he recited the prayer during Easter Sunday service

His family is building a praying circle and spreading the word through Facebook around the world for little Ray. They only have one wish, that on September 23rd, Ray's birthday that people all across the county who have share this boy's belief believe that he can be healed

The day of prayer and Ray’s party will be held at Penrose Park in the City of St. Louis next Wednesday September 23rd starting at 2 p.m.
