ST. LOUIS (KPLR) - A public tribute was held Saturday to celebrate the life of Walter Crawford, the founder of the World Bird Sanctuary in Valley Park. Crawford often appeared on FOX2 and News11, educating us and the public about nature and the role of all kinds of birds in our ecosystem.

Crawford died in July, after suffering complications following surgery. Walt was 70 years old.

The public memorial was held at Ballpark Village in downtown St. Louis.
