SULLIVAN, MO (KPLR) – The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating a drowning on the Meramec River that occurred Monday at Meramec State Park. The patrol says a married couple was out canoeing, when a woman injured her ankle and foot.  The husband, 64-year-old Danny G. Maddux left the canoe to get help, walking down river.

At some point the man tried to cross the river and went under the water and not surfacing.

The multiple agencies searched for Maddux, finding his body down stream near a boat ramp.
