Off-duty officer shoots suspect at area hotel

BRIDGETON, MO (KPLR) – FOX2 has confirmed from Bridgeton Mayor Terry Briggs, that a off-duty police officer working a secondary job at America’s Best Value Suites in Bridgeton fired his service weapon Sunday at a suspect following an altercation at the hotel. It’s unclear as to why the officer fired his weapon or the circumstances under which the altercation occurred.

Authorities at the scene say they received a call for a person refusing to leave the hotel. The suspect in question was shot once in the leg, sustaining non-life threatening injury.

The off-duty officer was also injured in the altercation and  was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Bridgeton police are on the scene conducting an investigation.
