UNIVERSITY CITY, MO (KPLR)- A major intersection in the Delmar Loop is closed as crews make more progress on the Loop Trolley project.  Delmar Boulevard at Trinity Avenue will remain closed until 3:30p.m. The intersection is closed so that crews can complete the final asphalt paving for the roundabout part of the Loop Trolley Project. During the closure, traffic will detour north on Kingsland Avenue and Midland Boulevard then east and west on Vernon Avenue.

The Loop Trolley is a 2.2 mile fixed track electrical trolley project that will connect The Loop and Forest Park. Construction began in early 2015.

The project is slated to be complete by mid 2016.

Service is scheduled to start late next year to allow enough time for testing and training. The total cost is $43million.
