Multiple explosions reported at Wood River Aquatic Center

WOOD RIVER, IL (KPLR) - Visitors at the Wood River Aquatic Center were jarred by loud popping sounds near the main pool area. Just after 4 pm on Tuesday Bommarito Automotive SkyFox flew over the scene as Wood River fire crews worked to resolve a chemical accident at the city's aquatic center. Officials say a part- time employee accidentally mixed two types of chlorine together causing a series of explosions in the pool area.

Crews were able to get it the situation resolved in about an hour. Around 200 people were attending the pool at the time of the accident, they were quickly evacuated and no one was hurt. The doors reopened hours later for a night time pool party.
