ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR)- A water main break forced a section of eastbound I-70 to close in north St. Louis right around midday. The interstate was closed for about an hour while crews worked to remove the standing water. All lanes reopened by 1:15pm Friday.

The break happened near some fields that are part of the  Mathews-Dickey Boy's & Girl's Club. The water ran down a hillside, flooding a portion of the interstate between Kingshighway and Union/Bircher.

Several cars drove into the high water and drivers needed help getting out safely. It does not appear anyone was injured.

Bircher closed until midnight while crews make water main repairs. There will also be no access to Kingshighway from eastbound I-70.
