Some Cahokia residents angered over City Clerk’s wife hired as his assistant

CAHOKIA, IL (KPLR) – Officials run for cover when You Paid For It goes to find out why the Cahokia Village Board hired the Elected Clerks wife to be his assistant.

City Clerk Richard Duncan took a cut in his $15,000 salary to make room for his wife's $32,000 part time job.

Duncan would not say anything about this deal when we confronted him, neither would his wife Debbie.

The Cahokia Mayor Curtis McCall also tight lipped.

There’s a questions about the village changing the Clerk's pay. Under state law elected officials salary can't be changed during their term of office.

Mayor McCall had promised to talk to Investigator Elliott Davis after a Board meeting but when the meeting ended the Mayor kept walking.

Meanwhile angry residents want answers.
