CHESTERFIELD (KPLR) – A man is in custody for allegedly shooting his wife outside of a nursing home in Chesterfield.

According to Chesterfield Police Chief Ray Johnson, the shooting happened at 6 a.m. on the parking lot of Friendship Village, located at 15201 Olive Street Road.

Investigators said the woman’s husband, identified as Robert Yancey, was waiting for her outside as she left work. After he confronted her, they began arguing and a struggle ensued.

Chief Johnson said Yancey pulled out a pistol, shot his wife, and fled the scene. She was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Her injuries appear to be non-life threatening.

Yancey turned himself in at the Chesterfield Police Department just after 11 a.m.
