4 murders overnight in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS (KPLR) – With seven more murders over the weekend and early Monday morning, the homicide total in St. Louis for the year is now 105.

Last year at this time it was about 70.

Among the latest, three young women, two of whom were shot to death just before 3:00 a.m. Monday morning in the 5400 block of Ruskin Avenue in North St. Louis.

One was found dead in the driver`s seat of a car, the other was slumped over a wall on a nearby front porch. Neighbors say neither woman lived at that address.

A few hours later, a third woman was found shot to death just after 8:00 a.m. near Interstate 70 and North Euclid.

Police say all three women knew each other but have not said how their killings might be related.

Their deaths bring the number of women murdered in St. Louis this year to 21, with 15 of those cases still unsolved.

'It`s just beyond words how sad this is,' said Gail Keys, who lives a few houses up the street on Ruskin from where the bodies were found.

'I don`t know what to say about our world right now. We are losing our children too fast, too quick, nonsense stuff and it is horrible,' she said.

As of Monday evening, police had released the names of only two of the three female victims.

The woman found dead near interstate 70 was Laura Green, 23, of the 5000 block of Davison.

The woman found dead in the car was Ce'Onta Cretter, 21, of the 1200 block of Bluemeyer.

Police say all three of the women were acquainted, but have not said how their killings might be related.
