GREENE COUNTY, IL (KPLR)-Heavy rain overnight led to flash flooding in Greene and Macoupin Counties in Illinois. Anywhere from 2 to 7 inches of rain fell over a six hour period leaving roads and even entire towns underwater
The Greene County Sheriff's Department says that U.S. 67 is closed heading into both White Hall and Roodhouse due to water over the roadway. There has also been a levee breach in Hillview, Illinois, sending flood water into the town. Hillview sits along Hurricane Creek, not far from the Illinois River in western Greene County. Rescuers have brought in boats to assist at least five people trapped in two homes.
