ST. LOUIS (KPLR) - A North St. Louis man said a ditch at an intersection ruined his car.

Emmanuel Johnson told News11 his Dodge Charger was damaged when he drove the intersection of Lillian and Riverview Monday.

There are signs at the intersection that read “rough pavement,” but Johnson said they should also be signs to let people know that there is a ditch in the road.

“I was driving my car slow, but the ditch is so deep,” Johnson said. “It just went boom!”

Johnson said repairs will cost him about $2,000 and that he can’t drive his car until they are complete.

“It’s just frustrating,” Johnson said.

The signs belong to the St. Louis Street Department, but city officials said the intersection is maintained by MoDOT.

MoDot’s risk management department deals with claims.

The number is 314-275-1500.
