SWANSEA, IL (KPLR) - The St. Clair County State's Attorney's Office handed down a 31-count warrant against a Swansea man accused of sexually assaulting his girlfriend's 10-year-old daughter.

According to Swansea Police Chief Steve Johnson, authorities were notified about a possible sexual assault of a minor at a home in town. The suspect's friend, who lived in another state, contacted the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department after being told about the crimes.

Police went to the residence to secure the child and her siblings. The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Gary 'MJ' Grodin, was not at the residence. Police seized a cell phone for evidence, which allegedly contained video of the Grodin using zip ties to bind the child's hands while forcing himself on her sexually.

Investigators do not believe the child's mother, Grodin's girlfriend, was aware of these crimes.

Johnson said police suspect Grodin may be going to Oklahoma.

Police described Grodin as 5'6" tall and weighing approximately 170 pounds, with light brown hair and hazel eyes. He has a 'middle finger' tattooed behind his right ear, a four-leaf clover on the left side of his neck, and both forearms are covered in tattoos. In addition, Grodin has a rose with the word "Autumn" on his left shoulder and a skeleton-type figure on his left hand.

Anyone with information on Grodin's whereabouts is asked to contact CrimeStoppers at 866-371-TIPS. Tipsters could be eligible for a $1,000 reward.
