First public single-sex school for girls in Missouri set to open this August

ST. LOUIS (KPLR) – St. Louis will soon be home to the first single-sex, public, charter school in the state that will focus on STEM - science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Hawthorn Leadership School for Girls is scheduled to open, August 17, 2015. The school, located at 1901 N. Kingshighway Boulevard is enrolling girls in the sixth and seventh grades on a first come first served basis. Tonight, on The Pulse of St. Louis, we'll take a closer look at Hawthorn, its curriculum, and its mission.
