ST. LOUIS (KPLR) – A group of veterans injured in combat kicked off an extreme test of athleticism Friday morning to help them rehab and reunite.

Today is day two of the wounded warrior’s soldier ride.

A three-day cycling challenge aimed at using the sport to overcome both physical and emotional wounds. The vets all have different injuries, but they’re united as a team for their first ride through St. Louis.

Today’s loop was 15-miles long and kicked off at Ballpark Village.

It’s an opportunity the vets say is helping them to create lasting friendships.

Saturday is day three and the granddaddy of them all.

They will pick back up at St. Charles Smartt field to cycle 22 more miles to the finish line.
