More than 50 people rescued from flooded trailer park near Festus

JEFFERSON COUNTY, MO (KTVI)- July is picking up where June left off with heavy rain causing flash flooding across the St. Louis region. The worst areas are in Jefferson County. More than 50 people were rescue from a mobile home park overnight. The rescue took place around 11:35p.m. at the Lakeside Manor Mobile Park off of Highway 61, south of Festus.

Firefighters from three departments rescued the residents by boat. They were taken to a nearby shelter. Mobile homes and cars are under water. The water came up very quickly as residents had minutes to evacuate.

Three people were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Nearly 400 people resided in the mobile park.
