CRYSTAL CITY, MO (KPLR)– A death investigation is underway in Crystal City. Police have confirmed this investigation, but are not saying whether it’s suspicious, until they gather more details.

It happened at the Riverview Bend apartments on Flagship Drive, just off Missouri Avenue. Neighbors say the victim is a middle-aged woman named Laura. They heard she went out Thursday night, and then her boyfriend discovered her Friday morning, dead inside her first floor apartment.

Police roped off the area with crime tape, and remained at the scene well into the afternoon. Trampled grass was still visible leading towards the victim’s apartment. Neighbors say it appears she could have been dragged into her home. Carol Boyster explains, “They said the bottom of her clothes were all wet, from being dragged through the grass.” She adds, “She was a really sweet girl. She really was a beautiful girl, and as nice as could be.”

Although police are not confirming whether this death is suspicious, neighbors are still concerned, especially since the apartment complex is home to several young children.
