VALLEY PARK, MO (KPLR) – The Meramec River crested 8.6 feet above flood stage early Monday night in Valley Park, causing only moderate flooding. The only road closed was the one to the city's recreation park.

The boat ramp and soccer and softball fields are covered with water.

City officials say they'll have to wait until the river recedes to find out if there is significant damage.

By comparison, during the great flood of 1993 the Meramec crested 17 feet above the flood stage.
