ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) – The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District has hired Woodard Cleaning and Restoration to help clean up to seventy homes and businesses impacted by flooding in a neighborhood near McCausland and Southwest. They were damaged when MSD's sewer system failed to prevent water from backing up into their basements during heavy rain storms last Friday. A command center is set up in the neighborhood offering information to flood victims. Crews are going door-to-door helping families impacted by the flood clean up and assess the damage to their property so MSD can reimburse them. Representatives from MSD's insurance company are delivering checks to residents who need hotels and food. Lance LeComb, a spokesperson for MSD says the company has an idea of what caused the problem, but is not going to release information about it until an investigation is completed. Families impacted by the flood are free to contact their own cleanup crews and contractors at MSD's expense.
