Slow moving thunderstorms lead to flash flooding

LINCOLN COUNTY, MO (KPLR)-Heavy rain from slow moving thunderstorms early Sunday led to flash flooding concerns for Pike, Lincoln, and Montgomery Counties in Missouri and Calhoun County in Illinois. Reports of flash flooding  near Wellsville and Middletown, MO came into the National Weather Service  after 2” to 5” of rain fell in just three hours. In Belleview,IL, one storm spotter reported that an area creek rose about 3 feet in 30 minutes, spilling out of its banks.

Scattered new thunderstorms will develop this afternoon into this evening. Some of these could be severe with large hail and damaging winds in addition to bringing the threat of more flash flooding.
