Elderly Wood River man killed in Highland crash

HIGHLAND, IL (KPLR) – A 69-year-old Wood River, Illinois died Tuesday afternoon in a motorcycle accident at a Highland intersection, the Madison County Coroner’s Office said.

According to police, the accident occurred just after 3:20 p.m. at the intersection of St. Rose and Iberg roads.

Gaylon Parker was traveling westbound on St. Rose Road with his wife, 69-year-old Donna Parker, when they collided with a U.S. Postal Service truck. Gaylon Parker was pronounced dead at the scene. Donna Parker was taken to a St. Louis hospital to be treated for undisclosed injuries.

The 48-year-old driver of the postal truck was brought to a hospital. Her condition has not been updated.

The investigation remains ongoing, as routine drug and toxicology tests are conducted.

Funeral arrangements for Gaylon Parker are still pending.
