ST. LOUIS (KPLR) - The St. Louis zoo was packed Saturday as Kali the Polar Bear made his public debut. The debut drew 30,000 visitors to the zoo.

The lines at the zoo were long Saturday afternoon all because of the nice weather, and Kali the Polar Bear. Visitors were happy to see the 9 foot tall; 850 pound bear hang out and have some fun in the sun at Polar Bear Point.

Kali was orphaned in Alaska and was delivered earlier this week by FedEx from his home at the Buffalo Zoo. The new $16-million dollar polar bear exhibit has two pools with 50,000 gallons of water. One is 12-feet deep and the other just four feet. The two and a half year old bear gets plenty of ice and space to roam in.

The new 40,000 square foot exhibit features a 22-foot window where guests can walk right up and say hello.
