SUNSET HILLS, MO (KPLR) - There is new information in the disappearance of a Sunset Hills woman.  The owner of Joe Boccardi’s Restaurant on Watson said 57-year-old Linda McLaughlin ate there Monday night. Police called the restaurant for surveillance video but were unable to obtain any.

McLaughin lives in a home on Meadowglen in Sunset Hills. When she was not home to babysit grandchildren Tuesday morning. Police were notified because it was out of character for her.

She and her husband are in the middle of a divorce. Court document indicate it had been a stormy separation although the couple’s oldest son John said things between his mom and dad seemed to be improving recently.

Linda McLaughlin’s car was discovered in South City near on Tennessee near Iron Street.  Gary Glasby lives in the neighborhood.  He said, “I really don’t know why they chose this spot to drop the car off. This is quiet neighborhood we all look out of reach other."

For the second time this week officers returned to the McLaughlin family farm near Gerald, Missouri about 75 miles west of St. Louis. They searched the 40 acre property, much of it described as rugged terrain.  Friends said the family like to use the place for hunting. Tracking and cadaver dogs joined in the search.

Authorities said this is still being called a missing person’s case.  Sgt. Brian Schellman, a spokesman for the St. Louis County Police said, “We hope that she’s still alive. But, I mean that’s just such a tough call to make. We’ve seen missing person cases through the years to where it seems somebody has fallen off the face of the earth and then they do return and that’s what we are hoping in this one. I myself have been in contact with the family as well as many detectives that’s their hope as well. We have to do our jobs make sure if she is deceased out here we locate her.”
