ST. LOUIS (KPLR) – It’s a painful feeling for the family of a murdered loved one.   They have plenty of company.  St. Louis Metropolitan Police have investigation 70 homicides during the 1st five months of 2015.  During the same time period in 2014, there were 52 homicides.  That’s a 34.6% increase.

Rico Boyd was part of a recent double homicide.  He and another male were shot multiple times early Tuesday morning.  Boyd’s family returned to the scene of the shooting Saturday giving out bottles of water.  They asked for donations to help fund a funeral.

“I’m doing this because I want my family to be okay,” said Jerry Brandon, Boyd’s brother.   “My family is going to be okay eventually. It might not be now, but it’s going to be eventually.”

Brandon also started a GoFundMe page.  He says his mother will not rest until she knows she can bury her son.

“We’re just trying to raise as much money as possible so he can have the funeral he deserves,” said Brandon.  He says his brother was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
