COLLINSVILLE, IL (KTVI) – There will be significant delays during the rush hour commute because of emergency repairs to the Poplar Street Bridge.  There will be lane restrictions on  eastbound I-55/64 just east of the bridge.  Workers are repairing a failed area of the concrete bridge deck.

The Illinois Department of Transportation is encouraging drivers to use an alternate route.  IDOT says traffic control devices will be in place to assist those who travel through the work zone.

The ramp from the Poplar Street Bridge to southbound I-55 and 44 closed last week.  MoDOT is encouraging drivers to use the MLK and Eads bridge.
