ST. LOUIS (KPLR) - The plague of gun violence does not let up as four people were wounded in north St. Louis late Sunday night.

The shooting occurred in the 2700 block of Dayton around 10:40 p.m.

Two men and two women, ranging in ages from 18 to 30, were wounded in the shooting. At least two of the victims are in stable condition and two victims are listed as critical but stable.

Both St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson and St. Louis Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce have said in the past there are far too many guns on the streets and that courts need to be tougher when it comes to punishing gun crimes.

Just last week, the circuit attorney unveiled a new website about gun crime in St. Louis, full of data and personal stories and information about groups that need volunteers and money to address the core problems feeding the violence.

Detectives frequently say a cooperative community is always important when investigating crimes like this, with people coming forward with information to help them catch the shooters.
