Fire and burglaries hit antique row in Alton

ALTON, IL (KPLR) – Alton police have been busy this past week on antique row in downtown Alton. Sunday morning several businesses suffered major fire damage after a fire broke out around 6:30 am. The fire was contained at Country Meadows Antique shop on East Broadway. Two of the eight vendors in the business had major losses.

Police are investigating the fire as suspicious in nature, especially after multiple stores were broken into overnight Sunday and last week.

The fire department is investigating the fire as an act of arson.

No one was injured in the fire.
