FERGUSON, MO (KPLR) – Despite the rain showers on Saturday, the residents of Ferguson attended this year’s Ferguson Spring Fest. Normally the festival is called Ferguson Street Fest, but was changed for this year only to Ferguson Spring Fest due to the unrest that hit Ferguson after the shooting death of Michael Brown, and looting following the Grand Jury verdict. The street festival was cancelled in September of last year and move to today.

A big crowd has turned out for the all-day event that featured music, food, and over 70 vendors selling their products.

Ferguson’s acting Police Chief Alan Eickhoff said, “I think what you see is everybody`s letting their guard down and enjoying themselves because there`s been a lot of tensions for the last 9 months.  And this is a nice fun family event”. A sentiment echo by people attending the festival, adding, “This is Ferguson”.
