MAPLEWOOD, MO (KPLR) – The owner of a Maplewood music store is trying to pull some strings and give students a better music education.

Top Notch Violins is teaming up with Shaw Visual and Performing Arts Elementary School for an Indiegogo campaign. The goal is to raise $35,000 to put stringed instruments into the hands of St. Louis City students who need them.

The Shaw school has some violins and cellos, but most need to be repaired or replaced.

“They don’t have the money to service those instruments and 80 of them are out of service,” said Steve Nolls, owner of Top Notch Violins. “So what we’re looking to do is repair her existing 140 instruments and replace or refurbish those instruments that can be serviced.”
