LINCOLN COUNTY, MO (KPLR) – A 51-year-old is sitting in jail amid accusations she ran over her boyfriend with her vehicle and left him to die, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.

On Tuesday, April 28, the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis was called to investigate a suspicious death near Foley, Missouri. Investigators discovered the body of 52-year-old William Horstman inside his 2001 Cadillac along the side of the road in the 300 block of Graves Lane. He was pronounced dead that evening.

Medical examiners said Horstman died of blunt force trauma to his head and chest, which included 20 broken ribs and massive brain bleeding.

During the course of their investigation, detectives discovered debris and tire markings in the 300 block of Graves Lane, leading them to believe Horstman had been struck by a vehicle.

Witnesses told investigators they had witnessed Horstman having an argument with his girlfriend, identified as Paulette Eaker.

Eaker was taken into custody for questioning the following morning. During the interview, investigators said Eaker admitted to striking Horstman with her 1997 Ford Expedition because he would not move out of her way. She went on to admit that she left the scene without attempting to help Horstman or calling 911.

An autopsy revealed that Horstman was not facing Eaker’s vehicle when he was struck.

Eaker was charged with first-degree involuntary manslaughter and leaving the scene of a car accident. She remains in custody at Lincoln County Jail on a $500,000 cash-only bond.
