ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) - Ms. Tyler is an amazing person. She has been a great inspiration to not only my child but to the parents as well. Ms. Tyler takes the time to greet each child in the morning with a smile and a few nice words no matter what she is the middle of. She talks in a soft loving way and does a great job making sure each child feels welcomed and wanted in her classroom. Her communication with parents is outstanding and never seems to be bothered by the fact that you want to check in with not only how your child is doing academically but how they are doing socially and emotionally.

Ms. Tyler has opened the eyes of her students up by taking a different approach when it comes to the students holiday parties. Her class still has a holiday party but the focus becomes on how the students can serve others in their community. For the Fall Harvest Party the students made placemats for Meals on Wheels clients, for Christmas we adopted a family in the St. Louis area who had a child who had been going through cancer treatments. Ms. Tyler's class raised $500.00 and we then took the students to a local store and we were able to purchase various items for the entire family to ensure they had a nice Christmas. For Valentines Day the class went to a local Assisted living Facility and sang some songs and passed out valentines to the residents. Through out the year it is not uncommon to find Ms. Tyler's 1st Grade class making cards for those who are shut ins or sick. The students have learned all year to think more of others and not themselves.

Ms. Tyler is a one of those rare teachers that you hope every child gets to have so that their learning experience is a positive and rewarding one. Zion is truly blessed with a wonderful teacher and makes Zion that much more pleasant to come too every day.

Mrs. Rachel Tyler received $500.00 from sponsored by Weber Chevrolet.
