St. Louisans hold prayer vigil for victims of earthquake in Nepal

BALLWIN, MO (KPLR) – They gathered to pray for help for loved ones living in the earthquake devastated part of Nepal.  Members of the Greater St. Louis Nepali Chautari gathered at the Hindu Temple of St. Louis in Ballwin Sunday night.

“It is very hard, very tough,” said the group’s president, Balaram Panthi.  “We are all family members. We are holding hands together.”

The group lit candles, held signs asking for donations and hope to make a difference.

 “One quarter in the U.S. can equal 4 to 5 bottles of water in Nepal, so a very small amount can mean a lot,” said GSTLNC member Bharat Kander.  Anyone wishing to donate can go to the organization’s relief efforts can go to http://gstlnc.org/newsite and click the donate link.​
