ST. CHARLES, MO (KPLR)- A St. Charles bar will be closed for quite some time after a driver rammed his Ford Mustang into the building Tuesday night. The crash happened at Field Box 2 located at 3721 Mexico Road. Investigators say the Mustang hit the air conditioning units and turned sideways before smashing into the bar, making the impact more the size of a pickup truck. One witness says she saw the Mustang traveling at a high rate of speed down Mexico Road, heading eastbound. She says the vehicle missed the curve in the road and ran about 60 feet off of the road, right into the bar. People inside of the bar started banging on the windows of his car, trying to wake him up but the driver was unconscious.

A St. Charles Fire Captain says it`s lucky he rammed into the kitchen and not the main area of the bar, which was filled with patrons.

The driver appears to be in his late 20s. He was transported, unconscious, to St. Joseph Medical Center. His injuries did not appear to be life threatening.

Police are trying to determine if a medical condition caused the driver to lose control.
