60-year-old Pacific man charged in girlfriend’s murder

PACIFIC, MO (KPLR) – The Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged a 60-year-old Pacific man in connection with the murder of his girlfriend.

According to the Pacific Police Department, officers were called to the Motormart gas station in the 200 block of N. Payne Street just before 11 p.m. on Tuesday. Upon their arrival, police found the body of a 48-year-old woman, the victim of a suspected homicide. The cause of death was not disclosed.

The victim’s boyfriend, identified as David Covert, was with her at the gas station.

During the course of their investigation, police recovered evidence leading them to believe Covert responsible for the woman’s death.

Covert was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of armed criminal action. He remains jailed on $1 million bond.
