Elderly man dies in O’Fallon, IL house fire

O'FALLON, IL (KPLR)- An early morning fire turned fatal in O'Fallon, Illinois Tuesday. Officials from the O'Fallon Fire Department say the fire started around midnight at a home in the Country Oaks Subdivision near Highway 50. Fire crews arrived to find the home engulfed in flames. Firefighters from three different departments responded to the call. Two people were able to escape. However, one elderly man was found in a bedroom on the second floor of the home. He did not survive.

Authorities believe the fire started in the garage which had been converted into a sleeping area.

At this point the fire has not been deemed suspicious.

This is an ongoing investigation.
