UNIVERSITY CITY, MO (KPLR)- The neon sign for the Peacock Diner has won first place in the International Signs Of The Times competition. The diner in the Delmar Loop is known for its neon decor and good milkshakes and food.
The 11-ft wide, 1800 lb sign has over 680 feet of neon tubing. The peacock on the sign fans out its colorful neon feathers in sequence over 200 times per hour.
The sign was designed by Hope Edwards, daughter of unofficial Loop mayor, Joe Edwards, and built by Piros Signs.
