Family files lawsuit over the death of a cab driver

FLORISSANT, MO (KPLR) - A St. Louis family is suing the St. Louis County and Florissant police departments after the death of their loved one.

The family of 44-year-old Abayomi Afolabi says they want to know more about what led to his death. In October of 2013 when Florissant police were called after the father of two was seen at his ex-wife’s home for a domestic dispute. Minute’s later police found him at his home on Winkler.

That`s when police say Afolabi pulled a gun while inside of his Laclede Cab and shot himself.

Officers also fired shots at the scene.

On Wednesday Afolabi`s family filed a civil complaint in federal court claiming excessive force and unlawful death. They also claim they weren`t given any information about the case.
