EAST ST. LOUIS (KPLR) – East St. Louis Mayor Alvin Parks has announced he is still in the race for re-election.

The Illinois Supreme Court kicked Mayor Parks off the ballot because he did not have enough signatures when filing his nominating petitions.

Parks says he had enough signatures, but some of the signers signed where they actually live in East St. Louis, not where they are registered.

The mayor says he is now a write-in candidate for mayor in the April elections.

New absentee ballots will also be made available, even if a voter already sent in the ballot.
