COLLINSVILLE, IL (KPLR) – Collinsville police have stepped up patrols around the Walmart that was the target of thieves Monday morning. Police say in that heist four women from St. Louis walked out of the Collinsville Walmart with three full carts without paying, causing a bizarre escape.

One suspect sprays deodorant in the face of an employee, followed by firing gun shots into the air while leaving the parking lot in a vehicle.

Police have identified suspects, but in the mean time Walmart and the Collinsville police are addressing security issues that have arisen since the store opened with easier access to the interstate.

Authorities are hoping four of the five suspects will turn themselves in soon.
