Metrolink security guard assaulted at downtown station

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-A Metrolink security officer was beaten up Thursday night and two suspects are now in custody. St. Louis police say the security guard, 39, was working at the Civic Center Metrolink station at 14th and Spruce downtown when he saw two men involved in what he deemed suspicious activity.

The guard called police who escorted the men away. But the two returned later. Again the guard called for police. When he made the call, the two reportedly started punching the guard in the face and he fought back.

Police arrived and arrested the 18 and 20 year old men.

In a statement, Metro stated that their policy state that, “Our guards may defend themselves.  Any incidents on our system are reviewed internally.  This guard’s actions are being investigated by Metro and the St. Louis Police Department.”
