DES PERES, MO (KPLR) - A battle brewing in Des Peres, at Monday night’s alderman meeting some are looking forward to a new Starbucks while others say it will create a traffic nightmare.

The room was packed as people showed up to the Des Peres alderman meeting to speak up at a public hearing about the approval of a new Starbucks that would be located on Manchester inside of the Reliance Bank near Harwood.

Representatives from Starbucks project made their case. While homeowners who live near the proposed location say adding a drive thru would add another layer of trouble for drivers and residents that live nearby.

Starbucks did a traffic study saying the impact was low, they also said the volume of cars could be 200 to 400 per day. A final vote expected on March 23rd.
