SPANISH LAKE, MO (KTVI) –  This morning a male student brought a loaded handgun to Townsend Elementary School in Spanish Lake. He told other students he had the gun but there’s no evidence anyone else saw or touched the weapon. Another student told a teacher, who then alerted the principal.

There was no threat posed to other students, but administrators don’t know why the weapon was brought to the school.

The student will face discipline, and the incident remains under investigation by law enforcement, according to the district.

A meeting is being scheduled with school parents.
