ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-A local man who dedicated his life to serving the homeless and poor of north St. Louis has passed away. Otis Woodard died Friday night according to his family. He spent his life visiting schools and churches to spread word of his ministry, which operated from a lot in north city known as Otis’ Peace Park. He was known for wearing long and colorful blouses, overlaid with strands of bright beads.
Woodard was active in the Civil Rights movement and traveled with Martin Luther King, Jr.
In a Facebook post announcing the death, Woodard’s daughter, Oteese, wrote, “I love you daddy, thank you for showing me tht one little light makes a difference. I promise to always let me light shine.”
